A Message From Mayor Greg Buontempo and Ron Emma Regarding Our Police
Recently some student activists have petitioned the Holmdel Township Committee to remove the blue line that runs down the center of Crawford’s Corner in front of town hall. This line was created as a show of support for the five officers ambushed in Dallas, TX.
The men and women who serve and protect us deserve this honor and show of respect. This blue line has nothing to do with the current movement that Chief John Mioduszewski so eloquently addresses in his letter in the just-released June Holmdel Monthly newsletter. We wholeheartedly support his comments and more importantly, his actions.
We are all for additional training in de-escalating techniques and other measures such as the newly purchased body cameras. However, defunding our great police officers who have done such an amazing job during and before the COVID-19 pandemic is not something we will ever support.
