Mayor Eric Hinds record of fiscal irresponsibility....

nearly $60K of engineering studies.... billed to the Township without proper authorization, ....

Holmdel voters should be appalled by Mayor Eric Hinds record of fiscal irresponsibility.

Most disturbing was the effort to hijack proceeds from a bond promised to HYAA for an artificial turf field at the Holmdel Swim Club. Recent highly-unusual hearings (sponsored by 3 of Hinds’ fellow Republican Committeemen) revealedthat nearly $60K of engineering studies were billed to the Township without proper authorization, and that authorization to spend $2.1M
of the $2.4M bond proceeds for a turf field was placed on the Township Committee “Consent Agenda,” normally reserved for routine business.

No one could recall a previous expenditure larger than $64K ever being placed on the Consent Agenda. While Hinds and his cohorts did their best to point fingers at each other, it’s
clear to anyone with an open mind that Hinds, the only Committeeman identified in sworn testimony to have been regularly involved, was behind this whole charade.

Other examples of mismanagement are Hinds’ refusal to vote to investigate serious allegations of
misconduct by disgraced Township Administrator Donna Vieiro, the deal to provide the Bellworks developer a tax break on private housing ,and countless expensive engineering studies for turf fields at every conceivable location around town.

Hinds’ deathbed conversion to fiscal responsibility by calling for an audit of expenditures (conveniently, to be finished after the election) fools no one.

Fortunately, two outside Independents, Cathy Weber and Prakash Santhana, are running to oust Hinds in the November election.

For an end to these fiscal shenanigans, we should support them.
