Middletown Police K9 Finds Heroin In Holmdel Car, Police Say
The Middletown police K-9, Koda, was called in Thursday to sniff a car stopped on Laurel Ave. in Holmdel. Heroin was found, police said.

HOLMDEL, NJ — A motor vehicle stop on Laurel Avenue in Holmdel Thursday unearthed heroin in the car, said Holmdel police.
Holmdel police said officers stopped the car at 11:37 a.m. Thursday on Laurel Avenue near Evergreen Ridge.
A police K-9 from Middletown was called in, and the dog found heroin in the car, said police. The driver, Joel Gauthier of Asbury Park, and a passenger, Andrew Miller of West Long Branch, were arrested and charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.

It was later found that Gauthier was wanted by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, in Hampden County for the distribution of narcotics, said police.
Miller was released pending a court date. Guathier was lodged at the Monmouth County Jail for his charges and as a fugitive from justice pending an extradition hearing.

From Holmdel police, Ptl. Corrigan and Ptl. Ruane made the initial stop, and they were assisted at the scene by Ptl. Van Pelt. Middletown Police K-9 Officer Greenwood and his partner Koda were called in.
