Monmouth Medical Center Hosts Lunch & Learn on Pelvic Floor Disorders, November 30
According to the American Urogynecologic Society, one in three women will be affected by a pelvic floor disorder in their lifetime
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles found in the pelvic area that controls bowel and bladder movements. When the pelvic floor becomes weak or damaged, pelvic floor disorders (PFDs), including bladder control problems, bowel control problems and pelvic organ prolapse, can occur. According to the American Urogynecologic Society, one in three women will be affected by a pelvic floor disorder in their lifetime. However, PDFs are not a normal part of aging and can be treated successfully.
In an effort to raise awareness about the impact of PFDs and available treatment options, Monmouth Medical Center will host Break Free from PFD educational lunch and learn on Wednesday, November 30 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Led by recognized expert in minimally invasive laparoscopic urogynecology and robotic surgery, Martin P. Michalewski, MD, FACOG, FPMRS, the session will cover PFDs and the newest treatment options.
A board-certified urogynecologist and robotic surgeon who is also a certified subspecialist in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Michalewski is qualified to provide consultation and comprehensive management of women with complex benign pelvic conditions, lower urinary tract disorders and pelvic floor dysfunction.
