The Holmdel and Hazlet police departments were each given a $5,000 grant for extra police patrols for the two weeks around Memorial Day.

Middletown, NJ - The Holmdel and Hazlet police departments were each given a $5,000 grant for extra police patrols for the two weeks around Memorial Day.
The money is part of the state's Click It Or Ticket campaign, running May 23 to June 5. Extra patrols will be out looking for drivers driving recklessly, driving while intoxicated or driving/riding in a car without seat belts.
Far fewer municipalities got the grant money this spring: 194 agencies were granted funds this year, compared to last year, when 372 agencies were involved. Grant money was given by the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety. Highlands, Atlantic Highlands, Keyport, Keansburg, Middletown, Marlboro and Union Beach also received the grants.
