Online Threat Against Hazlet Camp Deemed Not Credible: Hazlet PD

The social media threat made towards the Camp Coconuts day camp was made by a 14-year-old with former ties to the camp, police said.

HAZLET, NJ - A social media threat made against Camp Coconuts, a day camp hosted by the Hazlet Swim Club on Union Avenue, has been deemed non-credible, authorities said.

An investigation into the threat, which was made on July 20, revealed that the statement was made by a 14-year-old from Holmdel Township who has previous ties to the camp. It was not immediately clear what the threat entailed or on what social media platform it was hosted on.

“After our investigating officer conducted an interview with the juvenile and his parents, it was determined that there were no means to carry out the threat,” the Hazlet Township Police Department said Thursday.
