Pedestrian Struck, Killed On Rt. 35 In Holmdel Tuesday
A male pedestrian was "killed by multiple vehicles" while crossing the main road in front of the Holmdel Motor Inn, authorities said.
HOLMDEL, NJ - A male pedestrian was fatally struck “by multiple vehicles” while crossing a four-lane highway in front of the Holmdel Motor Inn Tuesday evening, authorities said.
In a statement, Holmdel police said the pedestrian was struck at around 7:15 p.m., "killed by multiple vehicles while crossing Route 35 in front of the Holmdel Motor Inn.” Authorities believe the male victim was coming from a 7-Eleven convenience store in the Kohl's Plaza.
The victim was identified as John Hebeler, 29, of Tuckerton, a spokesperson from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office confirmed to Patch.

Hebeler reportedly crossed the four-lane highway separated by a concrete barrier with no intersection or crosswalk shortly before 7:16 p.m., according to the spokesperson. Holmdel police responded to the scene where they found Hebeler lying in the southbound left lane of the highway "obviously deceased."
Authorities determined Hebeler was staying at the adjacent Holmdel Motor Inn prior to the incident.

Highway 35 North and South was closed between Union and Poole Avenues from around 7:45 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
