Raccoon in Hazlet Has Rabies, Police Say
A raccoon found in the area of Gregory Street has tested positive for rabies, Hazlet police announced.

Hazlet, NJ - A raccoon found in the area of Gregory Street has tested positive for rabies, Hazlet police announced Thursday afternoon.
This comes one week after rabies was found in a family pit bull in Aberdeen. The dog bit three people before dying of the disease, Monmouth County health officials said. Those three individuals are being monitored for signs of rabies. The county also wants to know if anybody bought pit bull puppies from the Cliffwood area of Aberdeen because the puppies may have been exposed to rabies also.
Make sure pets vaccines are up to date. Use caution around wild animals, Hazlet police say.
