RAGE Hosting Update Meeting On JCP&L Power Line Proposal
Come meet RAGE's lawyer and learn more about what they're doing to fight the proposal.
HAZLET, NJ-- Anti-powerline community groupe RAGE will be hosting an informational meeting on Nov 2. to update the community on their actions against JCP&L's Monmouth County Reliability Project.
RAGE (Residents Against Giant Electric) will introduce their lawyer to the community, and explain the legal aspects of the case: what an intervenor is, the Office of Administrative Law, and how that will affect people in the five towns along the powerlines.
The proposal to build a ten mile stretch of 140 foot power lines has electrified the community, creating deep public backlash over what opponents say is a project that will do nothing but decrease their quality of life. JCP&L officials, on the other had, have said the project is necessary to provide consistent service to the community, and the disruptions caused by it will be minimal.

Middletown, Hazlet and Holmdel have banded together to hire lawyers and engineers to fight the proposal, which was first suggested in the 1980s (it faced significant backlash then as well). Aberdeen has offered to fund a portion of legal expenses; Red Bank passed a resolution saying they would also help fund the expenses on Wednesday.
Seating is limited, so RSVPs are required (click here to do so). The meeting begins at 7:30 at Raritan High School (419 Middle Road, Hazlet).
