Rahway Woman Drove Drunk In Keansburg With Kids In Car, Police Say

She was found asleep behind the wheel on Carr Avenue Tuesday evening, Keansburg police said. Two young kids were in the backseat.

KEANSBURG, NJ — A Rahway woman was found drunk and asleep in her car yesterday evening in Keansburg, police said, while her two young children were in the back.

The alleged incident happened Tuesday, Aug. 15, Keansburg police said. At about 6:20 Tuesday evening, Hazlet police were initially called to reports of an erratic driver, operating a black Mazda, driving down Laurel Avenue towards Keansburg. Keansburg police officer Michael Sheehan was on Carr Avenue when he observed a black Mazda idling on the side of the road. The driver, identified as Jennifer Feliciano-Lizardi, 27, of Rahway, appeared to be sleeping at the wheel.

There were two young children in the back seat, and they were not wearing seat belts. Police determined Feliciano-Lizardi to be intoxicated. She was charged with driving under the influence and endangering the welfare of a child. The children were turned over to the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency, and then to relatives.
