Sobriety Checkpoint This Weekend On The Garden State Parkway
New Jersey State Police will set up a sobriety checkpoint Saturday on the Garden State Parkway.

REMINDER: New Jersey State Police will set up a sobriety checkpoint on the Garden State Parkway Saturday.
The New Jersey State Police Troop D Traffic Office will set up the checkpoint in Monmouth County between 6 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday, State Police said.
In a news release, police said they hoped to reduce crashes caused by intoxicated drivers.

In that news release, police said they might lose the element of surprise with the advance warning, but said people who drive drunk already know they are making a deadly decision.
“But they do it anyway in total disregard for their safety and the safety of everyone else on the road,’‘ the news release said. “We’re assuming that their poor judgment will not impede our ability to take drunk drivers off the road just because of a little advance warning.”
