One does not need to be an expert to see that there is something terribly wrong with the tree in the attached picture. This zombification of our trees by invasive vine growth is most evident in early spring. Driving through town with an alert eye will depressingly highlight the epidemic nature of this blight.
My totally novice solution has been to just cut the bottom of the vines with a hand saw. I did this last spring and the invaded trees on my property have handsomely thrived.
Please take out your saws and save our beautiful trees!
