A Warning—Photo of the Week

Teen skateboarder's accident should be a wake-up call to borough: wear a helmet.

Hopatcong Patch's Photo of the Week usually features smiling faces, people having a good time. We've taken a different approach this week.

We believe Jonathan Delgado's accident, in which the 18-year-old borough resident sustained serious head injuries, should make everyone aware of the dangers of riding without a helmet. Delgado wasn't wearing one when he crashed down Unger Avenue's "Suicide Hill" section, sending him into critical condition at Morristown Memorial Hospital.

This photo's of "Suicide Hill," one of Hopatcong's steepest inclines. And that's saying something. Hopatcong is filled with windy roads, streets that twist and turn, rise and fall with seemingly no rhyme or reason.

Nearly every road should be considered somewhat dangerous, and should be traversed with caution. And that means at least putting on a helmet.
