Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, located at 246 Woodport Road in Sparta, is delighted to announce a special musical performance by Bill McGowan of Pushingstone at an outdoor summer concert on Friday, August 21, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. (In the event of rain, the concert will be held indoors.)
McGowan, a self‑taught Christian musician, is known for his heartfelt, scripture‑inspired compositions. His music blends storytelling, reflection, and New Testament themes, especially the stories of women in scripture, creating a deeply personal and spiritually rich experience for listeners. This event is free and open to all. Free‑will donations are appreciated and will help support future events. Light refreshments will be available for a small fee, with proceeds supporting the outreach ministry of Shepherd of the Hills.

The Machine has forged a nearly 40 year reputation of extending the musical legacy of Pink Floyd. The New York-based quartet performs a diverse mix of PinkFloyd's extensive 16-album repertoire, complete with faithful renditions of popular hits as well as obscure gems. With stellar musicianship and passionate delivery, The Machine explores collective improvisation rivaling that of an early 1970's Pink Floyd, while their use of expanded theatrical elements and elaborate stage displays and lighting continues Pink Floyd’s spirit of the 1980's. The band is also known for recreating entire albums as a part of their show, accepting requests from fans, and for taking an A -Z approach in which one song is played for every letter of the alphabet. Created by Carl Palmer and his management, Welcome Back My Friends – An Evening with Emerson Lake &amp; Palmer will be presented with the full cooperation of the Estates of Keith Emerson and Greg Lake. This is not a tribute act – this is the real thing. Through modern technology they will reunite the band: Palmer with his two bandmates, playing together along with Emerson and Lake, who both passed away in 2016. The show combines video performance of Emerson and Lake from a legendary sold out 1992 Royal Albert Hall ELP show, with live on stage performances of Palmer with his own ELP Legacy band, Paul Bielatowicz and Simon Fitzpatrick. All the musicians play together in sync to present a complete and authentic ELP show.
