The animal shelter posted photos of the flightless bird in a wooded area.

On Thursday, after two weeks of being on the loose, the bird was rounded up near Colby Drive in Byram after a lot of "patience, teamwork, and determination."

"Doug from Liberty Mutual is no longer searching for his emu, LiMu—he has been captured! The Great Emu Chase has officially come to an end," Hopatcong Animal Shelter posted. "After more than two weeks of evading capture, the emu on the loose has finally been safely caught!"

Shelter officials said that residents were providing the runaway emu with apples to make sure he stayed in the general area. Another resident set up a temporary shelter for the emu while animal experts planned its capture.

The emu has found a new home with the Space Farms Zoo & Museum.
