Broadway Comes to Sparta: Rising Stars Launch Spectacular Summer 2026 Theatre Intensives

🎭 SPARTA’S YOUNG STARS GET READY TO SHINE IN SUMMER 2026 THEATRE INTENSIVES! 🌟

Summer in Sussex County just got a whole lot brighter — and louder!

Rising Stars Youth Theatre Co. (RSYTC), a beloved local theatre organization dedicated exclusively to young performers, has opened registration for its Summer 2026 Theatre Intensives, and the buzz is electric.
These aren’t your average summer "camps" — they’re Broadway-style training experiences where kids and teens dive deep into acting, singing, dancing, and teamwork while mounting full-scale musical productions!

Running this summer at Pehrson Hall (at the First Presbyterian Church of Sparta) in Sparta, these intensives combine rigorous artistic training with a joyous and creative atmosphere where every participant can grow — whether they’re new to theatre or a seasoned spotlight-stealer. Families know RSYTC for its supportive community, dedicated instructors and staff, and productions that rival most of what you see on the main stage. 

Here’s what’s on the marquee this year:

🎤 BYE BYE BIRDIE (Mixed Division – Grades 2–12)
Kick off the season with this high-energy musical comedy set in the colorful 1950s! Through June and early July, performers will bring to life the antics of rock ’n’ roll star Conrad Birdie, swooning fans, and small-town craziness in a production packed with catchy songs and big dance numbers.
Registration and Audition videos are due by March 17.

🦁 THE LION KING JR. (Junior Division – Grades 2–8)
Next up is the beloved The Lion King Jr, a journey across the Pride Lands filled with unforgettable characters, beautiful music, and rich storytelling. This production invites young actors to explore character, movement, and ensemble performance in a truly magical setting. 
Registration and Audition videos are due by March 24.

🗞 NEWSIES (Mixed Division – Grades 2–12)
Closing out the summer is the high-octane, newsboy-powered musical Newsies! With scores to match big city dreams and dynamic dance sequences that will leave audiences cheering, this production offers an incredible opportunity for the youth to take the stage with grit and heart.
Registration and Audition videos are due by March 30.

Each intensive runs Monday through Friday (from 9AM to 3PM) with daily rehearsals leading up to live public performances — giving students a real taste of what it’s like to do theatre the professional way.
And because every role matters in a cast of this scale, there’s room for all levels of talent and experience.
