Area residents are invited to jump start their job search at a Career & Job Fair at Project Self-Sufficiency on Thursday, April 21st, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Job seekers, those who need assistance with job search techniques, and people who need help navigating their current workplace are encouraged to attend. Representatives from local businesses and schools will be on hand to promote job openings and educational opportunities. Interview skills workshops will allow participants to practice interview techniques and obtain valuable feedback from seasoned professionals. Kim Morlock and Lidia Zdunek of First Hope Bank will offer a free presentation about networking and resume development. A seminar about using Linked In will be facilitated by Project Self-Sufficiency Career Center staff. The Career & Job Fair is free and open to the public; no registration is required. Project Self-Sufficiency is located at 127 Mill Street in Newton.
“The Career & Job Fair will offer those who are currently seeking work the opportunity to network with other job seekers, get leads on employment opportunities and gain the skills and confidence necessary to land their next job,” noted Project Self-Sufficiency Career Center Coordinator Kyersten Rozanski.
The presentation by First Hope Bank personnel will be held several times during the course of the four-hour fair. Titled “How to Network & Market Yourself to Employers,” Morlock and Zdunek will offer tips on everything from resume writing to use of social relationships to appropriate follow-up methods. The Linked In seminar will explore using the business-oriented social networking service to craft a professional image and connect with employment opportunities. The interview skills sessions, “Perfect Your Interview,” will allow career fair attendees to get immediate feedback on their performance during an interview from professionals currently working in the field.
