Driver, 81, Dies After Slamming Into A Tree In North Jersey

The man died in the hospital several days after the accident.

SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ — A Sussex County man is dead following an accident on a busy roadway last week.

On Tuesday, around noon, police were called to County Road 626 in Hampton Township on reports of an accident.

Authorities found that Thomas S. Valleau, 81, of Newton, had lost control of his Hyundai, veered off the right side of the road, and slammed into a tree, police said.

Valleau was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. He was pronounced dead three days later, according to authorities.

New Jersey State Troopers are investigating the crash.
