Drunk Driver Charged After Domestic Dispute: Sparta Police

Wendy Mittelstadt was stopped at Sparta Junction, police said.

SPARTA, NJ - A 35-year-old Landing woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after being involved in a domestic dispute on Dec. 16, according to the Sparta Police Department.

At midnight, Sparta patrols were alerted to be on the lookout for a silver Hyundai Elantra that was just involved in a domestic dispute in Ogdensburg and Patrol Officer Arlene Lippencott observed the vehicle and stopped it at the Sparta Junction, police said.

Lippencott approached the vehicle and met with the driver, Wendy Mittelstadt, and Lippencott suspected that Mittelstadt had been consuming alcoholic beverages, police said.

Lippencott had Mittelstadt complete field sobriety tests, afterwards she was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to Sparta Police HQ for processing, police said.

According to authorities, Mittelstadt completed breath testing and was charged with DWI and Careless Driving and released to a sober adult.
