Former Hopatcong BOE Member, US Congress Candidate Francis 'Ed' DeMott Dies at 84
Ed DeMott was involved at St. Jude's Church and at the Hopatcong Senior Citizen Group.

Francis "Ed" DeMott of Hopatcong died Sept. 22 at the House of the Good Shepherd retirement community in Hackettstown after a long illness. He was 84 years old at the time of his death, the Star-Ledger reports.
DeMott, a Jersey City native, served in World War II as a U.S. Marine Corps member and as a Merchant Marine. He was a graduate of St. Peter's College in Jersey City, and spent much of his career working as a Bell System market research analyst. After retiring in 1984, he because an agent for Prudential and Weichert Real Estate.
DeMott served on the Hopatcong Board of Education and also ran for U.S. Congress as an independent candidate. He was a member of Hopatcong's St. Jude Church and the Hopatcong Senior Citizen Group.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the House of the Good Shepherd, in memory of Ed DeMott, 798 Willow Grove St., Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
A memorial service for DeMott will be scheduled at a later date.
