Hopatcong CERT Craft Fair – Brings Together Local Crafters

Hopatcong CERT Sponsored Christmas Craft Fair Saturday Dec 7th adds Joy to Gift Giving

Fran Tierney once again is leading the coordination of the Christmas Craft Fair sponsored by CERT at the Hopatcong Senior Center. It is on Saturday December 7th from 9 am to 3 pm. They are anticipating many vendors. Those vendors interested in a table can call 973 580-9411 or email francertteam@yahoo.com

CERT is the Community Emergency Response Team comprised of Hopatcong residents. It is an all-volunteer group that Hopatcong can count on to assist the community in urgent response situations. Their biggest milestone moment of preparation came during Super Storm Sandy. CERT volunteers could be found checking up on at risk residents in the community and doing light temporary shelter tasks too. More recent winter activities was CERT’s assistance at Hopatcong’s temporary warming stations that welcomes those affected with a warm place and hot cup of coffee. It is no wonder that CERT can pull together some great local craft vendors offering unique and handmade gifts for this Holiday shopping event.

Last year provided various creative vendors that offered items such as: hand-poured soy-based candles with wonderful fragrances; Fired glass pendant jewelry claimed to be a "One of a kind piece" where no two pieces are identical.; whimsical hand-stitched ornaments and Victorian style postcard ornaments, warm crocheted and knitted scarves, hats and gloves; plus freehand customized artwork on sneakers and fabric.

Christmas would not be complete without good Holiday story telling. Last year Hopatcong author Candice Smith was selling and singing her book Christmas Candi. The book promised "A Guide to Year-Round Holiday Bliss. It was a good read to put us in the Christmas spirit.
