Hopatcong Restaurants Cut Prices Monday, Promote Family Dinner

Borough businesses join group advocating time with the family.

The following is from the Sussex County Center for Prevention and Counseling.

Make a date for dinner – with your kids!  The conversations that go hand-in-hand with dinner help parents learn more about their children’s lives and better understand the challenges they face.  Research by The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University consistently finds the more often children eat dinner with their families, the less likely they are to smoke, drink or use other drugs.

CASA created Family Day – A Day to eat Dinner with Your Children in 2001 as a national effort to promote family dinners as an effective way to reduce substance abuse among youth.  Log onto www.CASAFamilyday.org to learn the seven secrets to successful family dinners and access fun activities in their Family Dinner Kit.
