HOPATCONG, NJ - Hopatcong senior Teresa Turnage is taking her trombone skills to a larger audience.

Turnage auditioned for and was accepted to the North Jersey Area Band on Dec. 7 at Wayne Hills High School. She competed with 400 students from 39 high schools in Sussex, Morris, Essex, Passaic and Bergen Counties. Teresa placed third in all auditing trombones, earning her a spot in the Wind Ensemble, according to officials.

She will participate in five intense rehearsals to work on challenging literature, and then perform a concert at Mt. Olive High School on Jan. 11, conducted by Rutgers Music Professor Darryl Bott.
