The yarn will be used for their new state project, which will help the organization Prevent Child Abuse-New Jersey.

HOPATCONG, NJ —The Hopatcong Women's Club is asking for purple baby yarn donations to help their new state project, which focuses on helping the organization Prevent Child Abuse-New Jersey, New Jersey Herald reports. Prevent Child Abuse-New Jersey is a statewide non-profit devoted to preventing child abuse and neglect.

The Hopatcong Women's Club will work on this program from 2016 to 2018. Volunteers will knit or crochet purple newborn baby caps to give to participating hospitals.

Employees in each hospital will view a DVD regarding child abuse, and read a booklet on the subject. Each baby in the hospital will receive a purple cap to show how each baby deserves love and care.
