Kinnara Ensemble to Perform in Newton
The renowned Kinnara Ensemble will perform at Christ Church, 62 Main Street, Newton, on Saturday, September 9th.

The Kinnara Ensemble, an a cappella choral group currently celebrating its tenth anniversary, will present a concert on Saturday, September 9th at 8:00 p.m. at Christ Church. Marking the quincentennial of Martin Luther’s thetical revolution against Catholic theology, the Kinnara Ensemble will perform music of the Protestant Reformation. This rich legacy of music spans the centuries and styles, and will be represented in this concert by works of Luther, Franck, Tallis, Bach, Brahms, Distler, and more. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students; tickets can be purchased online at www.kinnaraensemble.org or at the door. Christ Church is located at 62 Main Street in the heart of downtown Newton.
Comprising 32 voices, Kinnara Ensemble is a professional choir based in Princeton, New Jersey. Singers who hail from all over the country rehearse together for a week in residency together as they prepare for each concert series. Vocalists in the Kinnara Ensemble also perform with other professional groups, such as Conspirare, Seraphic Fire, Santa Fe Desert Chorale, Handel & Haydn Society, and Skylark Ensemble.
Kinnara Ensemble Artistic Director J.D. Burnett enjoys a varied career as a conductor, singer, and teacher. He is Assistant Professor of Music and Associate Director of Choral Activities at the University of Georgia Hugh Hodgson School of Music, where he conducts the Men’s and Women’s Glee Clubs and the Collegium Musicum, and teaches courses in choral literature and conducting.
