Landing Boy Scout Brian Day Earns Eagle Scout
Landing, NJ Boy Scout Brian Day Earns Eagle Scout Rank

LANDING, NJ— Brian started his Scouting career as a tiger cub in Pack 188 from Landing, NJ. He was introduced to many exciting new things like Camping, Pinewood Derby, and many more throughout Cub Scouting. He always enjoyed everything he did as he grew up in the ranks. Years past and he became a Webelo Scout. At that point, Brian was slowly learning about leadership and responsibility as he earned his Arrow of Light in 2010 to become a Boy Scout in Troop 188.
He was familiar with some of the older scouts because his brother was already a part of the Troop. Not to mention all of his friends who crossed into Boy Scouts with him. He learned so many new skills like First Aid, Lashings, and Orienteering. With only being a part of the Troop for almost two years, he earned the ranks of Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class. He also went to Summer Camp where he earned most of his Merit Badges. Brian earned a total of 27 Merit Badges, which exceeds the Eagle Scout requirement of 21. Some of his favorite Merit Badges were Astronomy, Canoeing, and Climbing. Brian held many positions in Troop 188 like Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Quartermaster, Troop Librarian, and Senior Patrol Leader. Being in these leadership positions, Brian knew what it took to be a leader. He also served as a Den Leader at Camp Wheeler at Mount Allamuchy.
One of Brian’s favorite things to do in the Troop was hiking because he got the chance to be outside, as well as all the amazing views he got to see as well. His favorite hiking trip was at the Shawangunk Mountains in New Paltz, New York. There he got to see many amazing views as far as the eye could see. There was also rock scrambling with the hike as an added bonus.

Brian’s father and brother were also a part of the Troop as well, and are both adult leaders. Brian’s Dad, Scott Day Sr., is an Assistant Scoutmaster and his brother, Scott Day Jr., is also an Eagle Scout of Troop 188.
For Brian’s Eagle Project, he rebuilt the retaining wall at the VFW Post 2833 in Kenvil, NJ. His project was a very large project which required a lot of help. He replaced the old, rotten, railroad tie wall with stone blocks. Brian spent a whole lot of time getting the prep work together and once he started, it was go time. From Brian’s perspective, “There were a lot of bumps on the way to finish the project, but nothing is just smooth sailing.” The project took four weeks to complete with over 200 hours of labor.
