NJ School Bus Full Of Students Gets Tangled In Downed Wires, Snaps Utility Pole: Cops

The utility pole's wires wrapped around the occupied bus, according to police.

SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ — A school bus carrying children snapped a utility pole Tuesday morning after it got caught up in downed wires, according to authorities.

Around 6:45 a.m., police were called to Mount Salem Road in Wantage Township on a report of an accident involving a school bus.

Authorities found that a Yellow Thompson school bus, carrying six students, had struck wires hanging from a utility pole.

The wires had wrapped around the bus, and the utility pole snapped due to the force of the bus pulling the wires, police said.

Authorities were able to safely remove the wires from the bus, and it continued to its destination. No injuries were reported.

The crash is under investigation by the New Jersey State Police.
