The Renaissance Festival in Sparta Includes a Mermaid too
Meet Magicians, Winged Fairies. Knights, Damsels and Royalty Sat & Sun September 7-8th and 14-15th at Sparta Camp Sacajawea on White Lake Rd

We have a few great Summer weekends left and visiting the White Lake Mermaid is a charming way to bring family and friends to say, “farewell my lady of summer imaginings”. On September 7-8 & 14-15th the grounds of Camp Sacajawea on White Lake Road will be transformed into an enchanting outdoor family Renaissance spectacular. It is their 3rd Annual Sparta Ren Faire.
James C Kimball is the owner of the former Girl Scout Camp Sacajawea in Sparta NJ. He is also the Director of the Live Action Role-Playing (LARP) Game "Knight Realms”. He has taken his LARP mastery to create a fabulous two weekend event of enchantment called the Sparta Ren Faire. Kimball employs local and regional actors, acrobatic artists, guild artisans and reenactors who have mastered the art of fantasy or exacting reenactment role playing in fairy-tale costumes and Elizabethan era attire.
Kimball is passionate about LARP where he has become King James I and his wife Queen Misha for these festival events. Attendees are delighted by the period themed exhibits and featured activities that include:

- Other Era Frontier Events to fill a field - Fire breathers, magical light dancers, tribal drums, campfires, dancing, storytelling plus the gallant shows of equestrian jousters.
- Archery – test your skill with a bow. Along the road of the faire, nestled in the beautiful woods, lies the mystical gaming glen. The modest arrow fee includes a range of multitude interesting targets to insure fun challenges for all levels of skill.
- Blacksmith Demonstration - by Daniel Lapidow aka the Hedrew Hammer Blacksmith of Trenton NJ who will be performing blacksmithing demonstrations throughout the day.
- Band of the Hawke - Learn about falconry from falconers with their trained raptors
- Step in time - to the Recreation of the 16th & 17th Century by The Kingdom of Lucerne Inc. Be a spectator to a 16th Century Viking encampment with arms and armor displays. Learn about general history, combat techniques, and period cooking. See blacksmithing, historical fencing, including a black powder musket demonstration. Also, on display, stocks (pillories) and the terrible executioner’s block.
- Interactive Experience - with the Rogues Guild of Sussex, If, you wish to take part in this interactive experience find your way to the rogues guild where the rogues guild representative will work with you to complete challenges
- Barge Cruise - Go for a twenty-minute scenic boat ride for a modest fee. Book a spot for yourself to relax and enjoy the experience. The Queen's barge can host six passengers at a time and will leave shore periodically for scenic trips on beautiful waters.
- Fifty Unique Vendors -some great food vendors too plus a Shopping Spree chance card
- Mermaid Encounters - As you look over the lake, you might spot a shimmer in the water. If you look closely you might just catch a glimpse of the mermaid! The name of this year’s hosting mermaid of the lake is Kita. So, don’t forget to visit the shores end and introduce yourself.
