Dogs Dumped Across 3 NJ Towns, Police Launch Investigation
Police suspect several dogs are still on the loose in the area.

SUSSEX COUNTY, NJ — At least 18 dogs were abandoned on the side of the road in three different instances throughout Sussex County this week, police said.
On Monday, around 7:30 p.m., state police from Troop "B" Sussex Station responded to "multiple reports of abandoned dogs" on County Route 619 in Stillwater, Meadows Road in Lafayette Township, and Clark Road in Wantage Township, Sussex County.

Police said that at each location, six to eight dogs were left by the road in open crates without any food or water.

Investigators believe the three incidents are connected due to "the similar appearance and characteristics of the dogs, as well as the manner in which they were abandoned."
A dozen dogs have been rescued by local animal shelters, but police believe there are more dogs to be found.
