Sparta High School Hosts Second Annual Jazz Festival

Bands from across the region will come together for a day of jazz.

HOPATCONG-SPARTA, NJ - From Sparta Township Public Schools: The award-winning music department of Sparta High School is hosting its second annual Jazz Festival on Friday, April 13, 2018. The event gathers fifteen top jazz bands from northern New Jersey, who compete for group and individual ratings.

The Festival will once again take place in the modern, thousand-seat auditorium of Sparta High School, where the township’s jazz bands will host ensembles from a dozen school districts. A variety of food will be for sale at an extensive concession stand in the school’s main lobby.

Bands will perform in either the Middle School, Competitive, or Highly Competitive division. This year’s pro adjudicators are Montclair State University’s Bill Moring and Oscar Perez and former Sparta Jazz Band director Chris Arnold.

Competitive Division: Pope John XXIII High School Jazz Band, Lenape Valley Jazz Band, Kittantinny High School K-Train, Wallkill Valley Jazz Band, High Point High School Jazz Band, Jefferson High School Jazz Band, Sparta Blues Sanction
Highly Competitive Division: High Point High School Jazz Ensemble, Newton High School Jazz

Admission: $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for students, free for children under 6
