The Township of Sparta's Public Works Department will begin our Township-wide spring clean-up program starting the first week of April.
March 20, 2021
The Township of Sparta’s Public Works Department will begin our Township-wide spring clean-up program starting the first week of April. Residents are urged to rake the grit from their lawn curbside prior to their road being swept. We will continue sweeping until all roads are completed. We are governed by NJ Storm Water Regulations when it comes to our sweeping responsibilities.

We ask that you keep your roadways as clear as possible when sweeping begins. Cars, garbage cans and recreational items such as basketball hoops can all create a hindrance for the sweeper as it travels your roadway. With the curb line free of obstacles, we will be able to complete the street sweeping in a more efficient and professional manner.
Lawn repairs by the Township will begin in late April early May. We will be out repairing damage that was done to resident’s lawns resulting from snow plowing operations as soon as the weather gets warm enough to move topsoil. Repairs include reapplying topsoil, seed and hay to the damaged area as necessary.

Contact our Public Works office at 973-729-6178 or by email Sparta.DPW@spartanj.org to request maintenance on broken asphalt, belgium block and concrete curbing as well as pot holes and catch basin repairs. Please try to give a precise location; i.e.: house number & street name and we will schedule maintenance as soon as time and weather permits.
Please do not rake lawn debris into the roadway. Lawn debris consists of organic waste such as leaves, branches or grass clipping that may flow into the drainage system and create a clog so the drains will not perform adequately during rains or heavy storms. Residents can dispose of vegetative waste at the SCMUA located on Rt. 94 in Lafayette Township. Information on disposal can be found on https://www.scmua.org/.
As always, the Township appreciates your patience and cooperation.
