Sparta Township evaluates the condition of its road system on an annual basis as part of its ongoing roadway maintenance program. The Engineering Department and Public Works Department work together to assess the condition of all roads throughout the Township compiling a list of municipal roads recommended for improvement on a yearly basis. Using various criteria and a rating matrix, selected roads are either paved or scheduled for microsurfacing. This evaluation process is applied to the more than 110 miles of roadway the Township of Sparta is responsible for.
