Sussex County YMCA Restarts Adult Program with Vineyard Trip

The Sussex County YMCA restarts it monthly Active Adult Day program this September 5th with an Active Adult Day Trip. They welcome Y members and community members to register at the Welcome Center to purchase a $15 ticket for their special group reservation to enjoy a day with wine tasting and a tour of the Ventimiglia Vineyards in Wantage, NJ. The registration deadline is September 3rd.

The tour is accessible to all, regardless of mobility and attendees are asked to arrive at Rocky Ridge Farm 101 Layton Road parking lot by 11:45 a.m. People are encouraged to bring their own bagged lunch. The trip will be held rain or shine.

Ventimiglia Vineyard continues a family tradition of hand-crafted wine making passed down for generations. Their wines are made in small batches of carefully selected, top quality grapes using oak barrels and minimal chemical or mechanical intervention.

Their founder is Gene Ventimiglia. His inspiration to become a winemaker started at a young age from the European winemaking traditions of his grandfather. Eugenio Ventimiglia has passed along this turn of the last century winemaking knowledge to his grandson. Gene has produced great tasting wines for over thirty years.

In August 2006, Gene and his wife, Anne, along with their family and good friends, began professional winemaking at Ventimiglia Vineyard in Wantage, New Jersey.
