24 Inches In Howell As Blizzard Cleanup Continues

HOWELL, NJ — Howell Township's municipal building will have a delayed opening on Tuesday as cleanup continues following a blizzard that dropped more than 24 inches of snow on the town.

The municipal building will open at 11 a.m., officials said.

Howell Township's K-8 schools and the Freehold Regional High School District are closed again, officials said, as the township digs out. Howell Township police said the township's public works crews and county and state road crews were clearing downed trees and wires as well as plowing and had urged residents to stay home.

There were 90 homes and businesses without power as of 9 p.m. Monday in Howell, according to Jersey Central Power & Light. The company was not giving time estimates on when power will be restored as more than 5,000 customers remained without electricity across Monmouth County, but the company had brought in crews from outside the state to assist with power restoration.
