$2.2M NJ American Water Project In Howell To Begin Next Week
The restoration project will upgrade decades-old water lines and install three new fire hydrants in the area.
HOWELL, NJ - New Jersey American Water is slated to begin work on a $2.2 million restoration project replacing 7,500 feet of aging water main in Howell, according to company officials.
New Jersey American Water’s local contractor Perna Finnigan, Inc. will begin work on the project around Oct. 12 until approximately Jan. 2021. Work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some work on Saturdays may be required to maintain the project schedule, according to a news release.
Street restoration will take place roughly 90 days after the project’s completion, the company said.

The six-inch water lines, installed as early as the 1960s, will be upgraded with a new eight-inch iron main along Stockport Way, Westbrook Road, Westbrook Circle, Beacon Drive, Meadowbrook Drive and Putnam Road. The project also includes the installation of three new fire hydrants and the replacement of 114 service lines along the pipeline.
“This $2.2 million investment will continue to advance water service reliability and
increase water flows for household consumption and fire protection in this community,” the company said in the news release.

“This improvement is part of New Jersey American Water’s multimillion-dollar initiative to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that has reached the end of its useful life in more than 100 communities across the state.”
Traffic restrictions and/or alternating traffic patterns are likely to occur during work hours. All emergency vehicles and local traffic will be allowed access during construction.
