Bear Sighting Prompts Advice From Howell Police
After being alerted to a bear sighting on Sugarbush Road, Howell Police remind residents not to interact with any bear they may see.
HOWELL, NJ— Police here said they received a report over the weekend of a bear sighting from a Sugarbush Road resident in the Candlewood development.
The person indicated he observed a bear in the woods but police said they received no other calls regarding a sighting.
Police advise residents who happen to see a bear to observe it only from a distance and contact police.

There have been several sightings of single bears throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties, police said, prompting police in various towns to issue reminders from the Department of Environmental Protection regarding bear safety:
