Drunken Man Hits Howell Police Officer In Scuffle At Target

Police had been called to help remove the man from the store because he was "belligerent," officials said.

HOWELL, NJ -- A Howell Township man remains in jail Monday on a charge of aggravated assault after he was arrested Saturday at the Target on Route 9 in Howell, where police were called because of a drunk “belligerent” man.

Roger E. Alonso-Solorzano, 32, of Max Place, Howell, was being escorted out of the Target by store security shortly before 9 p.m. when Patrolman Rich Robertiello responded to the call, Police Chief Andrew Kudrick said.

Alonso-Solorzano would not take his hands out of his pockets, and while Robertiello tried to pat him down for weapons, Alonso-Solorzano tried to run away, hitting Robertiello in the face in the process, Kudrick said.
