Early Morning Fire Destroys Garage At Howell Home

The residents of the home were safely evacuated, police said.

HOWELL, NJ — A fire that destroyed a detached garage at a Howell Township home early Thursday remains under investigation, police said.

There were no injuries reported.

The fire at the home on Easy Street was reported at 5:38 a.m. Thursday, Howell Lt. John Barroqueiro said.

The first arriving police officer evacuated the residents from the main house and away from the detached garage that was fully engulfed in flames, he said.

The garage was reported to store vehicles and other property, Barroqueiro said.

Firefighters from the Ramtown, Squankum, Southard, Freewood Acres and South Wall fire companies responded, along with Howell Police EMS.

The origin of the fire remained under investigation by the Howell Township Fire Bureau.
