Georgian Court Lecture Examines Faith, Injustice, and Violence
Virginia Tech historian Marian Mollin revisits the influence of Maryknoll Sister Mary Ida, nearly 40 years after her execution

Georgian Court University presents historian Marian Mollin, Ph.D., as the featured speaker for GCU’s Fall Academic and Student Affairs Lecture. Dr. Mollin, an associate professor at Virginia Tech University, will present “Faith & Activism in the Life of Maryknoll Sister Ita Ford,” on Tuesday, November 5, at 2:00 p.m. The event, which will take place in Georgian Court’s North Dining Room, is free and open to the public.
Sister Ita Ford was one of four U.S. churchwomen murdered by the El Salvadoran military in December 1980. As a historian, Dr. Mollin has examined Sister Ita’s life—and death—by considering issues of solidarity, suffering, and grassroots community building.
This annual GCU lecture event is hosted by the Division of Academic and Student Affairs. For more information, contact GCU Dean of Students Amani Jennings.
