Howell Leaf Pickup Schedule For 2017 Announced

Put them at the curb and do not bag them, the township says.

HOWELL, NJ — You may not have started raking you leaves, or you may have just a few small piles. Howell Township is preparing to collect them starting Nov. 6, the township announced.

The leaf collection is residential properties only.

Leaf collection will be in multiple zones throughout the township, officials said, and the last leaf collection pass will begin Nov. 27.

Residents are reminded to put leaves at the curb no later than Sunday, Nov. 26. "After this date we will not be returning to your street once the last pass is made," the township said.

The guidelines are as follows:

Leaves only will be collected. Mixtures of leaves and branches will not be touched.

  • Place leaves at edge of curb (not in the traffic lane)
  • DO NOT bag leaves
  • Keep piles clear of storm inlets to prevent flooding

Brush collection will be done in the spring. The dates have not yet been announced but will be closer to the dates.

The township's recycling center at 278 Old Tavern Road accepts leaves and brush year-round, seven days a week and is open 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. No permits are required to access the center but proof of residency must be provided.
