Howell Man Breaking Into Neighbor's Home Suffers Deep Cuts, Police Say

The man was bleeding profusely from cuts he suffered, apparently from breaking a window to enter the home, when police arrived.

A Howell man undergoing surgery after he suffered deep cuts on broken glass while breaking into his neighbor’s home, police said.

Police were called to a home on Lincoln Street in Winding Brook Mobile Home Park about 7:30 a.m. for a report of a man bleeding, Police Chief Andrew Kudrick Jr. said. The caller said the man, an unwanted intruder, has smashed a window and jumped through it to get into the caller’s home.

Patrol Officers Brooks and Bishop found the 38-year-old man lying on the ground outside the residence, Kudrick said. He had lost a significant amount of blood due to a serious cut to his upper arm and body, apparently caused by the shards of window glass that remained intact, the chief said, and he was barely responsive.

Bishop and Brooks administered first aid, including applying a tourniquet to the man’s arm, and MONOC paramedics then provided advanced life support, including CPR when the man stopped breathing and his heart stopped, and they were able to revive him, Kudrick said.

It is not known at this time why the man forcefully entered his neighbor’s home, Kudrick said, but the two men knew each other. Criminal charges are pending, he said.
