Howell Mayor Urges Murphy To Reopen Businesses
The Howell Township Council passed a resolution to allow restaurants to obtain a permit for outdoor dining.

HOWELL, NJ — Howell Township officials are urging Gov. Phil Murphy to allow outdoor dining to resume at restaurants across the state amid the coronavirus crisis.
Mayor Theresa Berger made the request in a Facebook live update for Howell residents on Saturday.
"I urge Governor Murphy to immediately lift the statewide prohibition on outdoor commercial dining and open small businesses," she said. "(The Howell) Council passed a resolution on extension to premises. We are ready to open when the governor allows for us to reopen."

The Howell Township Council passed a resolution at its May 19 meeting to allow the township's land use director to grant permits for outdoor dining, to help restaurants hampered by the coronavirus.
Restaurants across the state have been limited to takeout or delivery service since March 16.
