Howell Middle School South Players TO PRESENT ‘LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL, JR.”

Howell Middle School South Players will present the fabulously fun award-winning musical LEGALLY BLONDE JR. on March 13th & 14th. Performances will be held at Howell Middle School South at 7:30 pm and a 2:00 matinee on March 14th. Based on the 2007 Broadway Musical, with music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin “Legally Blonde” follows the adventures of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who, after being dumped by her fiancé for not being “serious” enough, gets into Harvard Law School to prove her intelligence. Elle not only excels beyond anyone’s expectations, but she also finds true love.

Songs from the musical include “Bend and Snap,” “Whipped into Shape” and “Find My Way.” 7th grader Olivia Mezzarina, who plays the title role of Elle, is excited to be playing this character. Howell Middle School South Teacher and Director Gillian Bryck who was delighted to find that there was a junior version of this show, feels that there is a message for everyone.

“Elle is enduringly sweet and I think that many people will relate to her journey. This is a show about finding one’s true self and realizing all that a person can be if she puts her mind to it.” Bryck said.

“Legally Blonde: The Musical” also features 8th graders Hailey Boho, Bella Bedore, Emily Dalton and Madison Scardaville as Elle’s Delta Nu UCLA Sisters. Elle’s heart belongs to Warner played by 8th grader Noah Teeling. At Harvard, Elle meets Emmett, played by 8th grader Robbie Montuoro who becomes more than a friend. 8th grader MaryRose Finn plays Brooke Wyndam, the woman being tried in Elle’s first Harvard law case. The Legally Blonde cast and crew includes 60 Middle School South students who have worked tirelessly the last 8 weeks despite the winter weather cancellations. “Many of the students will be experiencing their first time on stage,” shared Cindy Lutz, Middle School South teacher and technical director/ choreographer. “They have worked really hard learning big production numbers and how to perform on stage. In addition, they are fortunate to have a theatrical set that is like none other built by our Middle School South’s Technology teacher Mr. Michael Moorman and volunteer dads.” The cast is also fortunate to have Mrs. Jacquie Revier from Playtime Costumes as their costumer to make them look authentically 80s!

Legally Blonde is a story of discovery. Discovering that you can be more than your defined ideas of who you are and what you are capable of. The Middle School South Players hope that you discover something amazing and enjoy this show as much as they have enjoyed making it.
