The man was identified through public tips and technology, police said.

HOWELL, NJ — A Howell Township man has been arrested and charged with eluding police after tips identified him as the motorcyclist who sped away from an attempted motorcycle stop on Tuesday, police said.

Roberto Martinez Jr., 26, was arrested Wednesday on the charge of eluding Howell Police Officer Omri Spiegel, police said.

Spiegel tried to pull over Martinez, who was riding a neon green motorcycle, for speeding on Route 9 south between West Farms Road and Sunnyside Road about 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, police said. Instead of stopping, Martinez sped off, weaving in and out of traffic and increasing his speed before getting on Interstate 195 west, police said.
