Breaking: Howell police are seeking help in identifying the rider of this motorcycle, who they say sped away from a traffic stop.

HOWELL, NJ — Howell Township police are seeking the public's help in identifying the rider of a motorcycle who they say sped off when police tried to pull him over Tuesday morning.

A Howell police officer tried to pull over the neon green motorcycle for speeding on Route 9 south about 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, Howell police said.

But the motorcyclist sped off from site of the attempted stop, between West Farms Road and Sunnyside Road, police said, weaving in and out of traffic and increasing its speed, they said.

The motorcycle was last seen getting on Interstate 195 westbound, police said.

The suspect is described as a scrawny white male, police said.
