Howell Opens Online Permit Application Process
Prior applications were filed directly at Municipal Building.

Over the past few months one of the goals of the Howell Township administration has been to work on efficiency and productivity.
From the consolidation into the new municipal building to the creation of the departments of Community Relations and Community Development there have been several steps toward achieving that goal.
Recently Township Manager Helene Schlegel announced a new initiative to help in that process. The Department of Community Development will now be offering an online permitting process for many projects in the township. Schlegel said the new online application process will make submissions easier, allow for faster approvals and give applicants an easier way to track their progress.

Prior to the addition of the online applications residents and their contractors had to go to the municipal building, and before that the office of engineering, zoning and planning to complete each step of the process.
Schlegel said after being in the planning stages for a while she was glad to see the online applications go live on the township’s website. “Making it easier and more convenient to do business in Howell Township is a key goal of the Mayor and Council,” she said. “By streamlining the permitting process for homeowners and business this will make an important contribution to our township reform efforts.”
