HOWELL, NJ - As part of a utility improvement project in Howell, Maxim Southard Road is scheduled to be closed off to vehicular traffic starting this week through August.

The next round of traffic closures in the township come in the form of a water main installation project on Maxim Southard Road near Amanda Lane, officials said at the latest Howell council meeting. The project, conducted by NJ American Water, will start July 19 and close the southbound lane of Maxim Southard between Oak Glen Road and Locust Avenue 24 hours a day for approximately four weeks.

Local traffic will be able to access Starlight and Talcott Roads. Traffic will be detoured to Oak Glen Road, Lanes Pond Road and Locust Avenue.

Future improvements include the reconstruction of Lanes Mill Road between Lanes Pond Road to Maxim Southard Road. Construction is scheduled to begin on July 26.

Maxim Southard Road from Locust Avenue to Talcott Road is also slated to be repaved this fall.

At the latest township council meeting, officials also noted that the latest repaving project - Preventorium Road from Maxim Road to Old Tavern Road - has been marked as complete as of July 16.
