Howell Teen Charged In Home Invasion Robbery That Injured 2 People: Police

Breaking: Two people were assaulted during the break-in, police said; a third assailant is being sought.

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ— A Howell Township 18-year-old is one of two teens charged in a home invasion robbery where the residents were beaten earlier this month, police said Thursday.

Miracle Vassell, 18, of Howell, and Brian Baylor-Washington, 18, of Morristown were arrested by Morris Township Police earlier this week in the robbery that happened Feb. 2, police said.

A third suspect remains unidentified, police said.

Police say Vassell and Baylor-Washington broke into a home on Cleveland Avenue in the Collinsville section of town on Feb. 2, assaulting and robbing two men in the home. The two men were taken to Morristown Medical Center, treated and released, Patch reported at the time.

Vassell is charged with first-degree armed robbery, second-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree theft, three counts of third-degree weapons possession, and second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, police said.

Baylor-Washington is charged with first-degree armed robbery, second-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree theft, three counts of third-degree weapons possession, and second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, police said.

Both are behind held at the Morris County Correctional Facility pending court appearances, police said.

Anonymous tips played a large part in the arrests of Baylor-Washington and Vassell, police said.

"Information obtained directly from an anonymous source through Morris County Crime Stoppers had a significant impact on the arrest of the individuals," Capt. Mark DiCarlo said in a press release. "Please take advantage of providing anonymous information pertaining to criminal offenses at morriscrimestoppers.org."
