Jaella Kreh Performs Senior Recital at Georgian Court University
The senior recital of music major Jaella Molina Kreh is slated for Sunday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. at Georgian Court University in Lakewood.
Dec. 6, 2014 (Lakewood, NJ)—The sounds of music—from Mozart to moving gospel hymns—drive Jaella Molina Kreh’s passion, especially when it comes to performing her favorites, as she will at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 14 in Georgian Court University’s Dorothy Marron Community Chapel.
Her senior recital is free and open to the public, and includes pieces by Handel, Schubert, Andrew Lloyd Weber, and others. The classically trained artist will sing in English, Italian and German.
The singer’s lifelong love of music can be tied to growing up as the granddaughter of a musician, the child of a preacher and her constant exposure to musicians in her formative years.
“I was always enthralled with music and the joy that it brings to people, and from a young age I knew that I wanted to sing,” said Ms. Kreh, a Toms River North H.S. alumna who will soon graduate from GCU with a degree in vocal performance. “As I got older, my aspirations shifted within the realm of music, and the teachers and musicians who served as my mentors always nurtured my talents.”
Beyond doing musical theater and production in high school, she also has experience with the Harding University Concert Choir in Searcy, Ark., and the Garden State Philharmonic Chorus.
Her gift for moving audiences through music is one she wants to pass on to others in her work as a piano teacher and vocal coach.
“You have to be able to do both,” she said, “and the only way to do that is to understand your own mechanisms, especially as a performer. They go hand-in-hand.”
