Lock Your Doors; Burglars Robbing Howell Homes In Daylight, Police Say
There have been a number of incidents in recent days, police said.

HOWELL, NJ -- Howell Township residents are being urged to lock their doors, even when they are home, in the wake of a string of daytime burglaries in the township, police said.
In a Facebook post, the Howell Township Police Department said there have been several burglaries in Glen Arden and in Aldrich Estates.
"Entry has been gained through UNLOCKED doors during the DAYTIME," the post said.

Residents should lock cars and houses even if they are at home, the post said.
"Unlocked cars and houses are crimes of opportunities for those who would rather steal from others than work to earn money legitimately," the post said.

Howell police also urged residents to be vigiliant and aware of what's happening around them.
"Please be aware of your surroundings and watch out for your neighbors who may be away on vacation or work," the post said. "Commonly, thieves will knock on the front door to determine if someone is home posing as someone who lost their dog or looking for directions.
"DON'T BE FOOLED. Don't confront the subject(s) but rather get a license plate and vehicle and personal description and CALL 9-1-1 immediately," the post warned.
